Sebago Lake (area map) is second largest lake in Maine and it's located in Southern  Maine. The lake itself is very large and very deep.   It also connects in the North to Brandy Pond and Long Lake.   Your sailing adventure can take you from Harrison Maine to the North all the way down to the Town of Standish to the South.

The Lakes Region of Maine is about 2.5 hours north of Boston.  There are a few ways to get here:

                           1. Fly to Portland International Jetport
                           2. Take Amtrak to Portland via the new " Downeaster" rail.
                           3. Drive up the Maine Turnpike to Exit 8 and follow Route 302 WEST to south Casco and take a left into Kettle Cove Marina (Across from Chutes Bakery which has amazingly good breakfasts - stop in, you won't regret it).

On the way up you may decide to stop in Kittery to do some shopping at the Outlet Stores or go to LLBeans in Freeport or Portland

We'll meet you at the marina at a designated time.   We'll show you the sailboat, run through the boat with you, make sure you are comfortable with everything and you are free to sail.   We'll go over the gunkholes with you and the area spots to eat and provision when we check you out.  There are a number of places to anchor and grill out or picnic.

As  the second largest lake in Maine and you can stay on a tack for 2-3 hours!   The sailing is fantastic and it is largely undiscovered which still suprises us.  During the week, when there is good wind, you may only see a couple of boats out.

Lots more Sebago Info

It's also the drinking supply for the City of Portland so needless to say, the water is very clean and we like to keep it that way.   We'll review the " do's and don'ts" with you at the boat.   It's fairly simple and basically good boating but a refresher can't hurt.   You'll enjoy some of the best swimming in Maine on the lake.   If the weather kicks up, we'll show you a few hurricane holes that are close by and very well protected.

You may decide to sail over to the town of Frye Island to have breakfast or lunch at Frye's Leap Cafe.   It's a casual spot with good food, ample docking and great views.   Just keep an eye out for the ferry - you'll have plenty of time to see the ferry and plan your approach accordingly.   It's a small car ferry that runs every 30 minutes or so.   If you really want to get wild, you can play a round of golf on the course here on Frye Island or maybe just go for a walk and stretch your legs a bit.   It's a neat spot for sure!

While you are in the area, why not head out on a cruise aboard the Songo River Queen II?There are cruises up and down Long Lake and to the Songo Lock.  They offer refreshments, beer, wine, soda, water and snacks.  It's a great take for the whole family.

If golfing is your bag, there are many golf courses to choose from.   We enjoy the Naples Golf & Country Club just a short drive from the Naples waterfront.   It's a great course, on Brandy Pond, casual and the people are very helpful and fun. There are a many other golf courses in the area, just give us a ring and we'll let you know about the course and proximity.   Most are within a 10-20 minute drive!

If you like some fun sailing - join the Lakes Region Sailing Club for a club race.   Let us know in advance and we'll get you registered and introduce you to some of the club members. Chances are we'll be out there racing with you.
